Khaled Alanezi

Assistant Professor, Department of Computing, PAAET, Kuwait

Khaled Alanezi is an assistant professor at the department of computer science of the public authority of applied education and training in Kuwait (PAAET). He received his B.Sc in Computer Engineering from Kuwait University, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Research Interests

My current research interests are in the areas of computer systems, social computing and privacy. Recently, I’m conducting research projects related to edge computing, microservices architectures, IoT privacy and privacy in social media. I generally follow an experimental approach in my research where I tend to explore known problems in above areas, come up with research proposals to address them and build research prototypes to validate those proposals.

Teaching

I teach using a hands-on style on which students are encouraged to immediately apply what they learn inside the classroom. Also, group projects and presentations are given to students to put them in a job-market-like experience while studying the subject. Since I started teaching in 2016, I have been typically switching between teaching the following courses depending on the department and students needs:

  • Operating Systems
  • Introduction to Computing
  • Introduction to Programming in C++
  • Web Programming (HTML, CSS, PHP & SQL using XAMPP)
  • Digital Logic
  • Java Programming I
  • Java Programming II (OOP using Java)
  • Database systems
  • Flutter & dart (training)
Collaboration

Since PAAET does not have a PhD program where I can recruit PhD students and have my own research group, my research is enabled by collaborating with other researchers from other institutions (see co-authors in my publication list). I’m open to any research or teaching collaboration.
